Parents’ Night Out, In-Class Shiai and Hanabi’s Tournament!
San Jose Open
900 people competed this past weekend at the San Jose Open and four of them were from Hanabi. Robin won two of his 4 matches, Chelsea had a hard day losing to two strong girls while Shuhan won 4 of her 5 matches by full point and Jargal won two of his three fights to earn a second place medal. It is important to remember that we won’t always win. The most important thing is to try as hard as you can. My father used to say “A champion is not always the one who wins. A Champion is the person who does his best.”
Parents’ and Kids’ Night Out!
This coming Saturday, October 14 will be Kids’/Parents’ Night Out at Hanabi. Enjoy, pizza, games and watch the Disney classic Bambi. Our Sensei and teenage sempais will ensure that the children have a safe and fun evening. It is $35 to attend and $5 for pizza.
October In-Class Shiai
Our monthly in-class Shiai (tournament) will be on October 20. We will be having a sumo tournament for our littler Chibi and Hajime students in addition to our Judo Shiai for our Honto students. Come and participate or just come and watch! It is always a wonderful event for all.
Hanabi Halloween Classic
October 29, Sunday, we will be hosting the Hanabi Halloween Classic judo tournament at Albany Middle School. This is our big annual event and we need everyone’s help. Parents can help with set up, scoring and break down. Every family should contribute a dish that we will offer to our guest referees and volunteers. All of our Honto students should compete. And our Chibi and Hajime students can also take part in a little sumo tournament before the regular competition begins.
