Dan Augustine Sensei Back from Japan

Dan Augustine returned from Japan this past weekend and brings with him wonderful stories of his visit to some of Japan’s best judo universities and the Kodokan, the world headquarters of judo.

Busy Hanabi Judo Weekend!

We held our monthly Parents/Kids Night Out on Saturday January 13 with about fifteen children and five older Hanabi members enjoying pizza, games and the movie Cars 2.  On Sunday, January 14, Jargal, Chelsea and Shuhan represented us at the Open Mat hosted by Tri-Valley Judo in Pleasanton. Over 100 judo payers gathered to practice.  A fun-filled weekend for all!

January In-Class Shiai

Friday, January 26 will be our monthly in-class shiai, or tournament.  5:30 will be the Hajime and Chibi classes sumo tournament followed at 6:30 by the Honto Class’ judo tournament. We hope everyone will come to participate or watch!

De Leon Open Work Out

Saturday, January 27 there will be an open work out in Petaluma at DeLeon Judo Club. We encourage all our Honto students to take part. More details to come!

Team Hanabi Orientation

Our orientation for parents and kids interested in joining Team Hanabi 2024 will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at 6:45.The team is for our serious competitors who will represent Hanabi at judo activities in Northern California and across the country..  We will talk about expectations and schedules. Please come!
