Hanabi Developmental Tournament and February In-Class Shiai results

Hanabi’s February 24 Developmental Tournament was a great success with teams from Vallejo, Cahill’s and Sacramento joining us. Congratulations to Hanabi champions: Keiden, Taiyo, Shoma, and Chelsea. The night before was our monthly In-Class Shiai with sumo and judo competitions. Leo and Antonio emerged as the sumo champions, while in judo, Taiyo won the prize for best technique, and Kolya, from Alameda, won the “Spirit” award. Congratulations to all!

March Promotions

March is promotion month and students will receive tests for their next shima or belt. If your child is promoted to a higher level of “shima” there will be a $35 fee. If they have earned a higher belt there will be a $50 fee.  Testing is ongoing and will continue until all of our students have been tested.

Kids Night Out!

Our monthly Kids’ Night Out will be on Saturday, March 9th from 6 PM to 9:30PM. We’ll be watching, ‘Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew’, eating pizza, playing games, and having fun! Cost: $35 with $5 for pizza (optional). Please RSVP by 5 PM on Friday January 8th.

Hanabi Spring Classic Tournament

April 13, Saturday, we will be hosting the Hanabi Spring Classic #00497 judo tournament at Pinole High School. This is our big annual event and we need everyone’s help!  All of our Honto students should compete. And our Chibi and Hajime students can also take part in a little sumo tournament before the regular competition begins. Parents can help with set-up, hospitality, and clean up.  Please register by March 1 for your discount. There will be no classes at Hanabi on April 13.
