In-class Shiai
Friday, April 26 will be our monthly in-class shiai, or tournament. 5:30 will be the Hajime and Chibi class’ sumo tournament followed at 6:30 by the Honto Class’ judo tournament. We hope everyone will come to participate or watch!
North Bay Open Work-out
On May 11, in Petaluma, CA, Hanabi will be assisting with the 2024 North Bay Open Work-out. This will be a smaller, more intimate practice with exhibition matches that will be perfect for newer students. We encourage all of our Hanabi Honto students to attend!
Women's Judo Class!

Pierre Sene’ at Cahill’s
Last Saturday, April 20, two time Olympian Pierre Sene’ gave a wonderful clinic at Cahill’s Judo in San Bruno. Pierre demonstrated the judo he used as an international champion and inspired our Hanabi students. We also had a chance to practice with students at one of the largest dojos in Northern California. Nagashima Sensei, newly arrived from Japan, especially enjoyed getting to face (and throw) a number of American black belts.
San Jose Judo National Training Camp: April 27th-28th
We invite Honto members of the Hanabi Judo family to register and enjoy a fantastic time together in San Jose. It’s an excellent opportunity to gain experience and make new friends with fellow judoka. Hanabi team members are required to participate for both days of the training camp.
