May 7 Spring Hanabi Tournament
Hanabi will be hosting a Spring tournament at our dojo, 841 San Pablo Ave, for judoka from around Northern California. We welcome all of our Honto students to join and all of our other students to come watch.
Team Hanabi to Golden State Open in Los Angeles
Team Hanabi, our group of young competitors who have committed to working hard and representing us in competition this year will be fighting, along with 750 other judoka, in Southern California next weekend. We wish them all the best!
Fun In-Class Shiai and Pot-Luck!
On April 14, twenty-five Hanabi students participated in our monthly In-Class Shiai (tournament). The three teams fought valiantly and shouts of encouragement echoed through the dojo with the blue team eventually triumphing. The best technique awards went to Charlee Trenkle and Chelsea Yang and the Spirit Award went to Vivi Nieto Suenram.
After the shiai concluded we had our first monthly pot-luck. Our families brought delicious food to share and there was a special treat of a sushi boat brought by Jargal Amarbayar’s family who own a Japanese restaurant.
Our next In-Class Shiai and Pot Luck will be May 19. Please come!
