Bojuka Blast!, Pot Luck Party, Labor Day, and More!
Bojuka Tournament in Monterey
Hanabi did wonderfully at the Bojuka tournament near Monterey on Sunday, August 25. Hanabi had eight competitors and we took home 5 golds, two silvers and one bronze medal. We had 21 matches total and won 17 of those by “Ippon,” full point. Congratulations to Ulysses, Taiyo, Keiden, Shuhan and Teo who all took first. And congratulations to all of our competitors for representing Hanabi so well!
In-Class Shiai and Pot Luck Party
On Friday, August 30, we’d like to welcome everyone back from vacation with our monthly shiai and a pot-luck party! We invite all our Chibi and Hajime students to the sumo competition beginning at 5:30. At 6:30 our Honto students will compete in a judo shiai (tournament) which we estimate will finish about 7:30. Please bring your favorite dish to share after the competitions. We look forward to enjoying both the food and your company!
Solano Stroll
Hanabi Judo will be taking part in the Solano Stroll on Sunday, September 8. We will have a booth at the intersection of Solano and Masonic Ave. and will be presenting judo demonstrations and talking to people. It is a fun opportunity to show the community our judo and our spirit. You can sign up to help on our website HanabiJudo.com/SolanoStroll.
East Bay Tournament at El Cerrito High
On Sunday, September 15 Hanabi will be participating at East Bay Judo Institute’s annual tournament that will take place at El Cerrito High School. Last year we had over 20 Hanabi students compete and this year we’d like to have over 30! For those who won’t be competing we would still love you to come by and cheer us on.
Labor Day Holiday
Hanabi will be closed on Monday September 2 in recognition of the Labor Day Holiday.
