15 Hanabi Students competed at the Summer Nationals in San Francisco this past weekend and 14 came back with medals. (The only person who missed out lost to his Hanabi teammate for third place.) In fact our kids did so well that, out of 58 clubs in attendance, Hanabi had the 3rd best results! And we had fewer students than the clubs above us. Our amazing performance was led by Harper, Luca, Keiden, Kai K., Shuhan and Raangzen: these 6 athletes won all of their matches to earn gold medals. Special thanks to our parents for all of their support!Congratulations to all!
Our monthly Kids’ Night Out will be Saturday, July 18th From 6 PM to 9:30 PM. We will be watching Lilo and Stitch, eating pizza, playing games, and having fun! Cost: $40 with $5 for pizza (optional). Please RSVP by 5 PM on Friday July 17th.
Hanabi after-school care and pick up for students from TK to 5 at Albany’s Marin, Cornell and Ocean View Elementary schools as well as for students in Berkeley and El Cerrito schools. In our after-school care program the kids will have study time, physical activities and cultural experiences all with Hanabi’s emphasis on respect, discipline and fun!
Scholar’s Academy Tournament in Brentwood on August 23, Bojuka Tournament in Monterey on August 30, East Bay Judo Institute tournament in El Cerrito and Solano Stroll on September 13, San Jose Open on September 18-20, and Cal State Championships in San Francisco on November 8.
