Hanabi students fought valiantly at Scholar’s Academy on Saturday, August 23 and came home with lots of bling! Out of our 12 students we earned six golds and 4 silvers. This was especially impressive considering seven of our 12 competitors were fighting in their first tournament! Special congratulations to our first-timers Moses and Duncan who got gold; and Khaknazar, Ethan and Joshie who got silver. Congratulations to everyone who participated. Proud of you all!
On September 13 stretching from Berkeley to Albany, the annual Solano Stroll will welcome tens of thousands of people and Hanabi will be there. and Hanabi will be there. Hanabi’s booth will be under the BART tracks at Masonic and Solano. We’d love to have you come out and support us! We will be doing demonstrations, handing out stickers and talking to our neighbors. It is always a fun event. Please sign up on the Hanabi website to help out!
The Bojuka Ryu Tournament in Seaside near Monterey will be held on August 30 and 431 competitors from Northern, Central and Southern California will be in attendance including 12 from Hanabi. We will have our regulars competitors like Shuhan, Kevin K and Juliessa in attendance but we will also have Jargal, our Pan American Champion who hasn’t had a chance to fight recently. On Sunday, September 13 the East Bay Tournament will be held at El Cerrito High School. Last year Hanabi placed third and we’d like to do even better this year. There is a limit to the number of students competing so please register now at https://smoothcomp.com/en/event/33578
