The belt promotion ceremony will be on Wednesday, September 26, at 6:45 pm and we invite everyone to come and watch! September is promotion month and we expect that all promotions will be finished by the end of the month. Shima promotions are $35 and new belts are $50.
September’s In Class Shiai (tournament) will be this coming Saturday, September 26. Our little Chibi and Hajime students will be doing a sumo competition at 9:55 followed by our Honto students in the real team competition at 11:00. Everyone is welcome so please bring family and friends! (Our Oyako class will go on Saturday at 8:15 as usual.)
Hanabi joined over 1000 judoka in San Jose this past weekend and our competitors did wonderfully! Raangzen, Shuhan, Luca and Katarina went undefeated and earned gold while Hiroshi, Theo W. and Juliessa got Silver and Mei and Mila took Bronze. But everyone looked great. Kai, for example, won 4 matches by full point and only lost to two players from Chicago as he earned 4th. Congratulations to all!
Hanabi will be hosting Jaime Jaramillo Sensei from Liechtenstein this coming week. He is part of the International Olympic Committee’s program to assist smaller countries in their sports development and will be observing the many activites we are involved with at Hanabi.
