In-Class Shiai, Dan in Dallas, Thanksgiving and more!
November In-Class Shiai
Last Week’s Sumo and Judo In-Class-Shiai was a wonderful success! We had 13 little sumo players and another 16 judo players participating. The competition was intense, the shouts of encouragement were loud and the techniques were precise (sometimes). We all look forward to our next in-class shiai on January 19 of 2024.
Dan Sensei in Dallas
Probably the biggest weekend in US judo was this past November 18 and 19 in Texas where the Dallas Open was held on Saturday followed by the President’s Cup tournament on Sunday. Close to 2000 competitors fought over those two days. And Dan Augustine was there representing Hanabi and looking for new Hanabi instructors.
Jayden from Tennessee was interested in teaching with us and Texas A&M Judo team has many members who might consider after graduation. But the one thing about Hanabi we found was of interest to all – especially the younger judoka – was our Hanabi fireworks logo stickers. Actually, the Pokemon Summer Camp stickers were even more popular.
Thanksgiving Vacation
Hanabi will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday on November 23 and 24. We will be open on Saturday, November 25.
