On Saturday, January 24 Hanabi will be having our first In-Class Shiai of 2026. The Hajime and Chibi students will have their sumo competition at 9:55 followed by the Honto’s team judo competition at 11:00.There will be awards and everyone is welcome!
Last Wednesday we had the orientation for Team Hanabi, our competition team for those who want to dedicate themselves to being their best judoka. We have already had several new members join! The deadline for team membership will be Saturday, January 24.
Kokushikan, one of Japan’s strongest judo university teams, will be visiting Hanabi from February 16 – 23! They will be working out with us as well as visiting college judo in San Francisco and San Jose. On Saturday, February 21, after our monthly in-class shiai, we will be having a farewell pot-luck party for the team and everyone is invited. That evening, we are looking for a few families that can take a Kokushikan student for an overnight “homestay” experience. Let us know if you might be interested.
We are now accepting early registrations for the Hanabi Summer Pokecamp.

Hanabi will be hosting a week of “PokeCamp” in Albany during winter break from December 29-January 2. Like our popular summer camp, we will have judo and art activities – such as origami and anime – related to Pokemon.
