Team Hanabi, our group of serious competitors, will be starting soon.  Team Hanabi members commit to working hard and attending competitions from February through June. The goal for this year’s younger students will be the Golden State Open in LA in May while our older students will aim for the Jr. Olympics in Pittsburgh, Pensylvia June 21 -22. 2024 is the year of the dragon so Team members will have special patches and t-shirts with our dragon logo. Team members are approved to wear blue gis, uniforms which are used at national level competitions.

Dan Augustine in Japan

I will be in Japan from January 8 through 14 visiting Universities and the Kodokan, the home of Judo. Hanabi is searching for another judo player to work out with us and we are hopeful that during this week, as I visit some of the strongest judo teams in the world, we will be able to find someone special. I promise to share pictures and stories with you all.
