Beginning this week the Honto class on Friday and Saturday will be extended another 30 minutes to allow for more training. The new times for Friday’s Honto class will be 6:30 – 8:30. Saturday’s Honto will be 11:00 – 1:00.
The Champion’s Cup Judo Tournament was held February, 1 and 20 Hanabi competitors fought. We brought home 11 medals including Gold for Kevin K., Juliessa, Mila and Jargal. For several of our players, including Zach, Josh R, and Theo W it was their first tournament. But both our new players and our veterans fought hard and made us proud. Congratulations to all!

Kokushikan University of Japan will be visiting Hanabi from February 16 – 23! On Saturday, February 21, after our monthly in-class shiai, we will be having a farewell pot-luck party for the team and everyone! That evening, we are looking for a few families that can take a Kokushikan student for an overnight “homestay” experience. Let us know if you might be interested.
One of our parents, James Hobson, whose son Sebastian enjoys the little honto class, has written a book inspired by the current situation in Ukraine. James’ wife, Anastasia, is from Ukraine. It is a very profound and poetic novel that we encourage you to read.
