Each year our Team Hanabi gathers a group of dedicated judoka who commit to working hard and representing Hanabi at state and national level competitions. Wednesday, January 14 at 6:30 was the date of our Orientation for parents of interested students. Our orientation talked about scheduling and expectations. The deadline for the Team Hanabi 2026 registration is on January 24th.
We are going to be having a new sensei arriving from Japan! Sana Yoshida, who won a Jr. World Championship silver medal in 2018 and was recruited directly out of high school to be on a professional corporate judo team, is going to be our first woman instructor in three years. She is especially looking forward to teaching our younger students when she arrives in late February or early March.
Hanabi will be closed on January 19 in recognition of the MLK holiday.
We are now accepting early registrations for the Hanabi Summer Pokecamp.

Hanabi will be hosting a week of “PokeCamp” in Albany during winter break from December 29-January 2. Like our popular summer camp, we will have judo and art activities – such as origami and anime – related to Pokemon.
